At our Annual Meeting on September 18, 2009, the following MDVAN members were elected to our Board of Directors:

Angela Walker (fiduciary representative for United Way)

BOARD MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND 3-5 BOARD MEETINGS PER YEAR, 3-5 PROGRAMS PER YEAR, SET POLICY AND PROGRAMMING DIRECTION, SERVE FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS.

Board Positions include:

Chair

Lead the MDVAN Board to assure its success

  • Develop agenda and lead Board meetings
  • Recommend assignment of Committee Members
  • Identify concerns of MDVAN leadership
  • Stay informed about committee matters, prepare for meetings and review and comment on minutes and reports.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation and planning efforts.

Vice-Chair

Provide support to MDVAN’s Chair to assure MDVAN’s success

  • Assist in the development of a calendar of Board meetings.
  • Serve as Board Chair in the absence of Chair.
  • Assist in the overall leadership of MDVAN’s Board.
  • Support Chair as directed.

Secretary

  • Record and maintain official records of all meeting minutes.
  • Maintain attendance lists of all meetings.
  • Preserve and catalogue all necessary papers.

Treasurer

  • Maintain all financial records.
  • Recommend yearly budget.
  • Provide written financial reports as necessary.
  • Receive and process revenues and expenses.

General Board Member

  • Set policy and programmatic direction.
  • Regularly attend Board meetings and general meetings.

COMMITTEES:

ADVOCACY COMMITTEE
Responsible for building the status and skills of volunteer managers/directors.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Creates/implements member recruitment and retention, invoices/collects dues, provides certificates and/or member badges, works with program committee.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE
Creates/implements programming based on member feedback, including MDVAN co-sponsorships.
